"The Silva Brothers was an extraordinary Chilean folk music group some years ago. Then they moved to Mexico and began singing boleros, occasionally including some Chilean music. The transition to Latin romantic music was unexpectedly good. They sang boleros much better than their former folk songs. In this recording there is a mixture of both genres, with folk music from other South American countries (Paraguay, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela), perhaps not the best interpretations for that music. Only three boleros remain, but it is enough to appreciate their unique vocal arrangements with the very high feminine voice (Lolita Silva). The group is no longer active, and this recording (with some technical shortcomings) is a good souvenir for bolero fans."
