"Sonnerie has made an excellent recording here: the playing is fully alert and sensitive to nuances presented in the music, and ornamentation, added when the context calls for it, is never less than witty and tasteful. The ASV recorded sound is great also, neither too dry or too reverbrant, and serves well to show off the beautiful sounds these musicians unfailingly tease from their period instruments. The bonus usually not present in other competing recordings of this music is an anonymous arrangment of the quintet for pianoforte and wind instruments, K. 452 (published first in 1800). Sonnerie sings the melodies in the slow movements so touchingly one is almost moved to tears by the beauty of the interpretation and the sound. A version that no lovers of this music on period instruments should miss."
