Product DescriptionRecord company mogul David Miller, who had played an integral role in the creation of Rock & Roll when he released the first Bill Haley & The Comets records, later turned his attentions to mood music. Inspired by the success of Mantovani and Jackie Gleason, among others, Miller contracted the Orchester des Nordwestdeutchen Hamburg (the Northwest German Radio Orchestra of Hamburg) and conducted by Wilhelm Stephan and had them record a series of mood music albums at an astonishing rate (some 24 albums were recorded and released in 1958 alone!). The 124 piece string orchestra would score a number of hits on the album charts, with Gypsy Campfires being their first, a #9 hit in 1959.
