Before Xiu Xiu, There Was XITSJ

"This is Jamie Stewart's band from July 1999 to July 2000, just prior to his forming Xiu Xiu. If you are a fan of Xiu Xiu, you will definitely enjoy this compilation of almost everything recorded by Ten in the Swear Jar. Stewart is the lead singer and, while there are no songwriting credits, I think it's safe to assume, the songwriter as well. There are amazing versions of I Love the Valley and Hellsabot, and a number of great songs that will be new to Xiu Xiu fans. I would say this album is slightly more accesible than any Xiu Xiu albums, but not by a lot. There is slightly less noise, the vocals are a little louder, and the songs are a little tighter. But there is plenty of screaming, plenty of gorgeous singing, and plenty of the unique quality that makes Jamie Stewart one of the most interesting people on the music scene right now."
