"at one time in the mid 1970s nils lofgren looked like he might be the next big thing. these two albums nils recorded with his band grin are the reason why. both albums highlight lofgren's song writing gift for catchy rock&roll (with great hooks) and his fabulous guitar playing. he's also a very good singer and almost every song on each album is excellent. critics at the time liked 1+1 the better of the two. i always liked "all out" best. it's slightly more hard rockin' and there's some terrific, smokin' hot vocal exchanges between nils and guest vocalist kathy mcdonald. grin's drummer and second vocalist bob berberich is also a stand out on the album. anyway, both albums are excellent. they are among the top rock albums of the 1970s (top 100). neil young was an early fan of nils and nils played guitar on some of neil's records. now a days nils is in the e-street band backing up bruce springsteen. the next big thing didn't work out for nils but these two albums still sound great. they stand the test of time. but don't believe me, believe neil young and bruce springsteen. both have used lofgren extensively. and it's because nils lofgren is terrific. along with his first solo album called "nils lofgren" these are his best albums. check them out. you won't be sorry you did."
I love this CD!

"I loved Neils well before Bruce Springstein let the rest of the world see him. This album takes me sweetly back to my teen years growing up Alabama. (Heavy Chevy i had!) Dang I love this Grin album and coupled with 1+1 is a gift from the Gods!
Highly recommend."
