Album Description

The first single from Dublin's favorite sons' highly anticipated new album 'All That You Can't Leave Behind', that was produced by the duo responsible for the commercially successful & critically acclaimed albums 'The Joshua Tree', 'Achtun g Baby' and 'The Unforgettable Fire'. No U.S. single is scheduled for 'Beautiful Day'. Pt.2 is backed with two non-album tracks, live versions of 'If You Wear That Velvet Dress' & their chart hit 'Discotheque' recorded in Mexico City on December 3rd, 1997 during the third leg of their Popmart World Tour. Both of these live tracks appear on the 1998 VHS release Popmart, Live From Mexico City, but this is the first time they've been available on CD (commercially anyway as 'Discotheque' was included on the recent fanclub-only U2 'Hasta La Vista Baby!'). 2000 release. Slimline jewel case.

OK for diehard fans, but get CD1 first

""Beautiful Day" is a great single. However, if you are going to pay a significant amount of money for a single, obtain the other version of this single first, which has two unreleased NEW songs - "Always" and "Summer Rain".For the diehard fans, this CD may be worth it - while some websites have incorrectly indicated that this CD2 has two songs from the fans-only CD 'Hasta La Vista Baby', actually, "If You Wear That Velvet Dress" is not on that CD. However, I would recommend trying to find the Australian version of this CD first, which also has a live version of "Last Night on Earth" (which was also not included on 'Hasta La Vista Baby')."

"I loved this song from the first time I heard it. The upcoming album will bring U2 to the fore front hopefully departing such acts as NSYNC anad B. SPears from the limelight. A great single with Pop Mart B-Sides

"This single is a little gem for U2 fans; despite the fact the CD only has three songs on it. "Beautiful Day" is a classic U2 song and has all the staples of a grand U2 tune. The second track is "Discotheque" and the third is "If You Wear that Velvet Dress", these are live versions from U2's Pop Mart tour. The original versions can be found on their 1997 (underrated) album "Pop". The live versions of both these songs are awesome. "Discotheque" is fast and funky and literally bleeds into a dark version of "If You Wear that Velvet Dress" by the Edge's astonishing guitar work.

I was able to see U2 on their Pop Mart tour in 1997, so perhaps this is why I love this CD single so much. Don't misunderstand me, "Beautiful Day" is a wonderful song, but I already had it when I bought "All that You Can't Leave Behind" (the album "Beautiful Day" was pulled from). The main event of this single is the live tracks from the Pop Mart tour. I highly recommend!!!"
