Tammy At Her Best Which is Country at it's Best
10/24/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is great, brillant stuff from the days when queens (Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Lynn Anderson, Dolly Parton) ruled country music not bimbos!! The sentiment on these tracks is just as real and powerful as it was twenty and thirty years ago. You have to have this collection if you love country."
Don't Miss The Legacy!
08/26/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"In death, Tammy Wynette escaped the emotional and physical torment that had shadowed her for most of her adult life. It was then that her true legacy was revealed: her music. This CD offers up some of Wynette's biggest and best hits. If your only exposure to country music's First Lady is STAND BY YOUR MAN, then listen to these other number one songs and you will be engulfed in a sound that will chill you, excite you and leave you in awe. These sixteen tracks prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Tammy Wynette is one of the greatest country female vocalists of all time."

Westley | Stuck in my head | 03/07/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Tammy Wynette has a number of greatest hits collections; however, this one *truly* has her 16 biggest hits. Specifically, it has all 16 of her solo #1 country songs! Of course, Stand By Your Man is here, but the collection also has quite a bit of variety. She's best known for her ballads, and many of these songs are ballads or slower in tempo. But she also includes #1 up-tempo hits. No one can sing of heartache or the difficulty of being a mother better than Tammy. Her voice aches in each song, and her vulnerability is always there. This is true country music. Highly recommended."
