CD Reviews

Indecent Exposure Re-Packaged
Mr. A. J. Betts | UK | 01/27/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Well, it's now 2004 and John Lydon (AKA Johnny Rotten) is in the middle of a jungle in Australia taking part in I'm A Celebrity.. Get Me Out of Here and it's now 28 years since this gig was recorded. Yes, i'll repeat that, 28 glorious years, and i'm stuck to wondering whether the man in the jungle and the man on this recording are the same.... in a word yes, and I find it amazing that it's taken 28 years to surface as an official release.I first purchased this when it was a bootleg recording called Indecent Exposure, and to be quite honest the performance isn't the best in the world, but the attitude of the band is worth it's weight in gold. This CD features the original and BEST line up of the Pistols, Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock & Paul Cook, (Sid was a pretender and should never have been allowed to pick up a bass guitar, let alone join the Sex Pistols, but that's my sad opinion).
The sound quality is excellent considering how old it is and how it was recorded, and to be honest in my opinion beats even the excellent Filthy Lucre Live CD. It only really does that though because when they did Burton on Trent they were still young and hungry, when they did Filthy Lucre Live they were only in it for the money so I feel it loses a lot of that original fire that the early Pistols had.The track listing is the normal stuff like Anarchy in the UK, No Fun, Problems etc... so no surprises there, but I do urge you to buy this CD if for one reason and one reason only. This is the ONLY CD where you will hear Punk in it's youth before Sid Vicious ruined it for all of us and turned it into a commercial time bomb. Nowhere else will you hear 4 guys trying to tell the world "there is an alternative, you can do what you want".Buy this CD, put it on, close your eyes and remember a time when your parents were sh*t scared of what was happening to music because they didn't understand."
