An overlooked album

"Fans who go beyond the various hits packages looking for original Judds albums generally go for their earlier music and ignore this one, which is a pity. Although this is not quite up to the standard of their best (Why not me, Rocking with the rhythm), it is still a high quality album worthy of hearing. Although the Judds were renowned for their traditional country music, this album is less traditional-sounding than their earlier music. Even so, most people who enjoy their earlier music should also enjoy this - this is still far more traditional than any of Wynonna's solo albums. The album yielded two number one country hits (Young love, Let me tell you about love). Most of the songs are originals but there are two covers. The first (Sleepless nights) is an Everly Brothers song (written for them by Boudleaux and Felice Bryant, who wrote several of their classic hits). Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, Peter and Gordon, Norah Jones and Elvis Costello have also covered it. I've heard four of these six versions and they are all brilliant but the Judds' version is as good as the others. The second (Water of love) is a cover of a song by Mark Knopfler, leader of the British guitar-rockers Dire Straits. The other six songs (One man woman, Not my baby, River of time, Cadillac red, Do I dare, Guardian angel) are also of a high quality and offer plenty of variety. River of time is a wonderful ballad. Cadillac red is an up-tempo song. One-man woman is a bluesy mid-tempo song.If you are a Judds fan - or a Wynonna fan - do not overlook this album. If you are a Dire Straits fan, perhaps you will want this to hear Mark Knopfler play electric guitar on Water of love."

"If you are a fan of The Judds than this CD is for you. In my opinion this CD is the best The Judds have ever done. It starts out with the single One Man Woman which shows their vocal abilities of singing low and high. The next song which was also a single is called Young Love which is about a boy and a girl who meet and fall in love and it tells of how they make it through the rough times and still are in love as much as they were when they met. My favorite song on the CD is Let Me Tell You About Love mainly because I like the up-beat tempo. I saw The Judds in concert twice when they were still performing and they do one hell of a job on this song live. Water Of Love reminds me of an old western song because of the haunting music. River Of Time is a beautiful song and The Judds do a fantastic job of singing this song. The CD ends with the 4th single Guardian Angel. This song is about their ancestors and how they feel them all the time reguardless of what they do or where their at. The song didn't reach the top 10 but it is a classic. I will always love The Judds and their music."
