Synopsis

Product Description
With lyrics that often evoke feelings of solitude and images of the natural world, my room in the trees sonically progresses along the path begun with 2003's Birds of My Neighborhood, spacious and warmly grounded with baritone and nylon string guitars and upright bass, and lit from above by electric guitar and piano. After making three albums with A&M records, the innocence mission began self-producing their albums in 1999. This is their ninth LP.

CD Reviews

Their BEST!
Shock & Roll | CA USA | 07/13/2010

"This is by far their best and most consistent CD to date! Almost every song is great! Karen's voice continues to be the most beautiful instrument created in the universe. And they finally added strings to a song(1st song "Rain") which I always felt would compliment Karens voice best and add to the melancholy nature of their music. Innocence Mission fans will love this and for those new to their music buy this and then buy Befriended & Birds of My Neighborhood. Their best song is The Lakes of Canada from Birds of my Neighborhood."

"There is a quotation in the liner notes to Rachel's --- Music For Egon Schiele by Arnold Schoenberg wherein he describes a work of music as: "These pieces can only be understood by those who believe that sound can say things which can only be expressed through sound." The music of The Innocence Mission has that same capacity for those who are willing to listen. It is that moment in a song where the listener, following the picture painted by the singer, discovers that his/her own life appears between the words. The moment where prose becomes poetry.

These songs are unbelievably beautiful, shimmering like so many particles unleashed by the smashing of atoms, that disappear back into the fabric of the universe to be chased by physicists searching for the mind of God."
