"Like a lot of these other reviewers, I am a HUGE Crowes fan. I love 'em! They are one of my favorite bands of all time. However, I feel I can be a bit more subjective than a lot of the reviewers regarding this release.

If you love the Crowes as I do, you will probably at least like this. There are early versions of songs that you already love, and even if you like the final album verisons better, you will probably still like the original versions. And it is interesting to hear a part of the evolution of songs we love. Also, there are NEW Crowes songs that we don't already have in any form. For the completist fans like myself, we MUST have it all! If you are a die hard fan, then get this release. But if you are a die hard fan, then you probably already acquired this release without caring about reviews.

That's what leads me to feel that most people reading these reviews are the more moderate fans. Maybe you like the Black Crowes and have most of their albums, but you are not sure about getting this release. You may be more on the fence about it, not sure if you should bother with this release. That's why you are reading these reviews - to decide if you should spend your money or not.

Let me make it easy for you: If you are not a die hard fan, then you may not get into this release that much. Even I, a die hard, don't like these demo versions of the songs as much as the final, more completely evolved and produced versions. And remember, the "new" songs are all outtakes - these were songs that were not deemed good enough for the album releases. I agree with the decisions of not puting these outtakes on the Amorica and By Your Side albums. They were left off for a reason. Are they good? Yes. Are they as good as the songs that made the cut? Not really. Those albums are totally awesome as is without these songs. If you are a more moderate fan, then my suggestion is to not spend your money on this release, unless maybe Amorica and By Your side are your two favorite albums, or the only Crowes albums you really get into."

"Even though many of these songs are just different mixes or out-takes... The Flow... Sound... & Overall Feel of these recordings creates a whole new "aural-experience" from the previous recordings IMHO.

It's like hearing these songs for the very first time in many cases. It seems a lot more experimental, loose & free (like in... "Just let your freak flag fly!)

Absolutely love it!!!

Just get a nice buzz... lay... back & enjoy!
