Synopsis

Album Description
Giulia Casiraghi, whose concert repertoire includes numerous vocal works by Vivaldi, Handel, Cavalli, Purcell, and Bach, graduated from the Donizetti Conservatory in Bergamo, Italy. She continued her studies with soprano Adelisa Tabiadon and attended master classes directed by Rodolfo Celletti and at the Antique Music Seminar of Alan Curtis in Venice, and had further specialized training in the baroque style with Gloria Banditelli. She has toured in the U.S. in presentations of cantatas by Vivaldi, Alessandro Scarlatti, and Morley. Although best known for his countless concertos, Vivaldi (1678-1741) was also prolific in other genres. He claimed to have written ninety-four operas, although only nineteen are extant. Orland Furioso is the most famous of them, and his oratiorio Juditha Triumphans is well known also.

"Hilarious! But not even half as fun as Florence Foster Jenkins! Believe me, though, her singing is as bad . . ."
